Nepal is situated between India and China. It has a total area of 147,181 km². 14% of the area is cultivated land, 13% is pasture, 32% is forested, and the rest is mountainous.

Nepal has a population of over 29 million. Agriculture employs most of the workforce but most people struggle to survive. In general, the population of Nepal is fairly poor, with a GNP per head of household around US$220.

Unfortunately, disease and civil wars have left many as orphans and single-parent children. Many children are involved in child labour and prostitution. It’s estimated that the number of uneducated children in Nepal is in the millions. The situation is even worse in remote villages, where many children are not being taken care of.

The programs we support:

Love Light Children’s Home

Love Light Children Home started in October, 2006 and was officially set up in June, 2007 by Love Light Society. The Children’s Home expanded in May 2009 in order to receive 9 more children who were in critical situations. The Children’s Home currently has 34 children.

The annual operating expenses of the children home is about US$20,500. There are 3 staff and 3 volunteers supporting the children home.

For their future plan, the children home wants to have their own land in 3 years and build separate hostel for boys and girls.

Objectives

• To raise funds to help cover the orphanage’s various expenses
• To establish a personal relationship between the children in our orphanage and our sponsors
• To improve Children’s Home’s service quality

Education Program

Objectives

• To provide basic education to students who are not able to continue their studies or children who are not in schools due to financial issues
• To provide educational and family counseling services for students and their families
• To share the gospel to students under this scheme with the criteria of them joining the activities organized by church
• To involve the Light and Love Home in Vancouver and Love Light Society in Nepal in the work of preaching the gospel and charity work
