Philippines

The Philippines is an archipelago of 7,107 islands. It stretches from the south of China to the northern tip of Borneo. The country has over a hundred ethnic groups with a population of about 90 million.

About 39.4% of Filipinos is considered poor. According to the NSO, 4 million out of the total 25 million Filipino children work as farmers, fishermen, hunters, vendors, and factory workers. Most of these working children were male, aged 10 to 17 years old, unskilled and unpaid. The Philippines has one of the world’s largest populations of street children. Metro Manila alone had at least 75,000 street children. About 2.8 million Filipinos could not read and write while 7.4 million others are illiterate. 

Education Program

Objectives

  • To provide basic education to students who are not able to continue their studies or children who are not in schools due to financial issues
  • To provide educational and family counseling services for students and their families
  • To share the gospel to students under this scheme with the criteria of they joining the activities organized by church
  • To involve the Light and Love Home in Vancouver and Light and Love Home Phils, Inc. in the work of preaching the gospel and charity work
